POSTMODERN MAN REVIEWED BY KUCI
My latest album received a review from KUCI 88.9FM in Irvine, CA.
Hobert Taylor wrote:
In the Harry Nilson tradition, songwriter Alphins gentle self deprecation and patient excoriation of contemporary society bounces right along encased in pop jingles and a voice dripping with treacle and venom.

Official SWRFA Showcase in Austin, TX
SWRFA SHOWCASE, TOURING NEWS, & POSTMODERN MAN ON THE CHARTS
This has been one of the most amazing and productive Summers for me musically. I was a finalist in the Telluride Troubadour contest at the Telluride Bluegrass Festival for the second time in three years, and I was a finalist in the Kerrville New Folk competition at the Kerrville Folk Festival for the first time. I put some serious miles on my Prius (it turned 100,000 on the way back from Colorado) and got to play in some awesome places like The Blue Door in Oklahoma City.
I was also excited to have my new album, Postmodern Man, reach #15 on the Folk DJ List for August, and two songs for the album were in the Folk DJ top 25 (Nobody Knows My Name"(#5);The Flood (#24).) Thank you to all the DJs who are spinning the songs!
Most recently, I had the privilege of performing an official showcase at the Southwest Regional Folk Alliance Conference in Austin, TX. It was an inspiring weekend of music sharing, meeting new friends, and reconnecting with old ones. I even wrote a new a new song based on a prompt I picked out of a bucket at the beginning of the conference a SWRFA tradition.
As the fall is leading into the end of the year, Ill be making touring plans for 2016 and submitting to some more festivals. Stay tuned for new updates, and email me if youd like to host a house concert!

2014 CHRIS AUSTIN SONGWRITING CONTEST FINALIST
I am beyond pleased to announce that I am one of the finalists in the Chris Austin Songwriting Contest for 2014 that will be held at the MerleFest music festival in Wilkesboro, NC next week (April 24-27). I have attended MerleFest with my family since 2002, and it is no exaggeration to say that being selected as a Chris Austin finalist is a dream come true. The contest was started in honor and memory of Chris Austin, a writer and musician who was killed in a 1991 plane crash, along with other members of Reba McEntire's band. It has become one of the best showcases of independent songwriting talent in the US. Past winners and finalists have included heroes of mine like Gillian Welch, as well as some of my songwriting friends and mentors like Louisa Branscomb and Brink Brinkman. My new song "Nobody Knows My Name" was selected as one of the top 3 entries in the General category this year. I will be attending MerleFest and performing on Friday, April 25th on the Chris Austin stage in the final judging round. I will also have new music available for purchase at the festival: a special preview of my upcoming 3rd album. You can purchase tickets and find out more about MerleFest at the festival website.

It was my first time in Telluride, and the music and the Colorado mountains were beatiful and inspiring. I hope that I'll get the chance to travel back to Telluride sometime soon. FAREWELL TO FAI MEMPHIS
It is with a bittersweet heart that I come back to Nashville from the International Folk Alliance conference in Memphis, TN. 2012 is the last year that the conference will be held in Memphis, and it was certainly a great time of playing music that did not disappoint. Some of the many great artists that provided highlights for me were my friends Robby Hecht, Greg Humphreys, and Shannon Wurst, as well as fellow Nashville musicians Brian Ashley Jones and Andy Gullahorn. Topping the great new discoveries for me were fantastic Austin swing band Ghosts Along the Brazos, and San Francisco, CA chanteuses Lia Rose and Kelly McFarling.
