Featured Performer in "Crash" at Third Coast Comedy Club (7/21/18)
"Crash" is a monthly show at Third Coast Comedy Club in Nashville where songwriting meets improv comedy. I'll play three of my songs and tell a bit of the story behind them. After each song, a group of improv actors from Third Coast will make up a skit inspired by my music and story. Tickets are $10. You can get them here.
Selected as 2018 Rocky Mountain Folks Festival Songwriter Showcase Finalist!
2018 continues to be a year of great performing opportunities for me. I just found out that I am one of 10 finalists selected in the Songwriter Showcase contest at Rocky Mountain Folks Festival in Lyons, CO next month. I'll get to perform on the main stage of the festival as well as the songwriter stage, and I could be lucky enough to win a guitar and a main stage performing spot at next year's festival! Thank you Planet Bluegrass!
Journey Church Songwriters at The Bluebird Cafe!
On Thursday, July 19th at 6:00 PM, I'll be hosting a special Early Show at The Bluebird Cafe with songwriters who are all from Journey Church in Brentwood, TN, where I have been attending for the past several years. This is not a Gospel or Contemporary Christian music show, but a showcase of diverse songwriters who all happen to be connected to Journey Church. In addition to me, Angel Snow, Ashely White, and The George Twins will also be performing.
The reservation link will go live on 7/12/2018 at 8:00 AM CST. Tickets will sell out within 15 minutes, so be on the ball!
SELECTED AS FINALIST FOR 2018 FRESH GRASS FESTIVAL!
I'm excited and honored to be selected as one of four finalists for the 2018 Fresh Grass Festival's No Depression Singer-Songwriter Award. I'll be performing in North Adams, MA at the Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art on September 15th, along with the other finalists, my friends Caroline Cotter, Heather Aubrey Lloyd, and Lauren Pratt. You can find out more about the finalists and the festival here: http://freshgrass.com/2018-finalists/
Thank You Telluride!
It was a great thrill to play on the Elks Park stage at the 45th Telluride Bluegrass Festival on Thursday, May 24th, just before the semifinal round of the Telluride Troubadour competition. Being the winner of last year's Troubadour competition, I was honored to come back and play as well as help judge the semifinals. The winner this year was Garrett Owen, from Fort Worth, TX. He is a talented writer and performer, and you should check out his music.
I was also happy to get to play a song and do a brief interview on KOTO FM, the local radio station in Telluride, and attend church at Telluride Christian Fellowship on Sunday. The mountains, the music, and the people (not to mention the food) all make Telluride one of my favorite places on Earth, and I'm happy to have had the privilege to visit and perform there so many times.
So long for now, Rocky Mountains!
Performing At Telluride Bluegrass Festival!
I'm happy to announce that I will be returning to the Telluride Bluegrass Festival next week to play on the Elks Park stage as the 2017 Telluride Troubadour winner. I'll also get to be one of the judges for the Troubadour contest this year, so I look forward to helping to name a new Troubadour to pass the torch to.
I'll be kicking off the music on the Elks Park Stage on Thursday at 11:00 AM, and will possibly be included in some other spots to play some songs through the rest of the festival.
Thank You New Folk!
I had such a wonderful time playing in my second Kerrville New Folk finals at Kerrville Folk Festival this year. It was wonderful to meet the other 31 finalists, and I was so pleased to see some of my favorite fellow musicians named among the 6 winners. I also had a wonderful show in Austin with Sue Young and Rusty Nelson.
Kerrville Folk Festival is a wonderful music festival, and if you haven't been, you should really go check it out. I'm happy to consider so many of the people who get to perform there each year as friends and peers. Thanks to Dalis Allen and everyone who works so hard to make the festival happen.
SELECTED AS 2018 KERRVILLE NEW FOLK FINALIST!
I have been selected as one of 32 finalists for the 2018 New Folk competition in Kerrville Texas. I was a New Folk finalist in 2015, and the experience was one of the best of my musical life/career. I can't wait to go back!
SELECTED AS FINALIST FOR 2018 SONGWRITER SERENADE FESTIVAL!
